Ten minutes with Kriss Akabusi
It’s not difficult to pinpoint the reason people warm to Kriss Akabusi; his familiar laugh, energy, enthusiasm and openness come at you in waves when you’re talking to him. It’s over 25 years since he won Gold in the 400m hurdles, at the European Championships in 1990. Since then, the athlete has gone on to study for an MBA, become a sought after Keynote Speaker and Training Facilitator, working with business leaders across the country.
Major showcase in high-profile Times CEO supplement secured by the Academy for Chief Executives
Academy for Chief Executives Press Release 1 December 2016 The Academy for Chief Executives has taken a significant step to raise its profile by supporting a major national newspaper supplement about The Future CEO. The 16-page Raconteur produced supplement, run in The Times newspaper on 1 December, features the Academy in a prominent position on page two with a special membership offer for readers. In a time of dynamic change and uncertainty, the supplement focuses on how the role of the chief executive is changing, and examine some of the challenges that lie ahead. Academy CEO, Ian Price, said: As an organisation devoted to unlocking the potential of every business leader, the Academy is already helping CEOs adapt for the future. This prominent national supplement is a welcome opportunity to showcase the invaluable work of CEOs across the country and the challenges they face. Were proud to play our part. The supplement covers topics such as culture, leadership and the routes to becoming a CEO. I can go to the group with a pretty thorny problem, usually one that I couldn’t tackle with anyone at work, and gain unbiased but caring opinion.
As a leader it needs to start with you, spending time and money on yourself is a good return for your business.
Being part of the group has changed the way I think and communicate resulting in increased productivity from my team.
It’s the most valuable day I ever spend out of the business a month.
In the increasingly fast-paced world of business leadership it is our duty to always be working on the gap between our conscious incompetence so that it becomes our unconscious competence – ACE bridges that gap and allows me to face our challenges with confidence.
Speaking for the Academy for Chief Executives (ACE) enables me to work with business leaders who are keen to learn and are able to act on suggestions that are made in the sessions. I have the privilege of both challenging and being challenged by some of the UK’s best business leaders.
I have been an ACE Chairman for 16 years now and can honestly say the quality of my life improved from the moment I became involved. I learnt more, got inspired more and work with a wonderful group of people who, with the support we provide, are succeeding more all the time and are great to be with.
Having been a member for five years, I wanted to bring ACE to South Yorkshire to give local leaders an opportunity to benefit from membership in the way I had. Being a Chairman is a real privilege that enables me to co-learn with my members, and continue to strive to be the best.
Why most websites are not working and what you can do about it (31 January 2017)
The Academy's South Herts & Essex Group offers CEOs and MDs support and professional development to improve their lives and improve their businesses. Graham Jones, Psychologist and Internet Consultant, will be presenting “Why most websites are not working and what you can do about it”. Graham has helped business of all kinds increase their revenue, particularly by helping them improve their communications with customers. Most corporate websites score hits, but no real connection to customers or potential purchasers. In this talk, Graham explains why that happens and how you can convert your company’s web presence into something that will truly connect with Internet users. You will leave with some insight and ideas that you can apply immediately upon your return to your organisation.

Meet our South Herts & Essex group at Hertfordshire Business Expo (6 February 2017)
For the first time, the Academy are exhibiting at the biggest business event in Hertfordshire. The Hertfordshire Business Expo will see the launch of Academy Group 55 covering the South Herts and Essex areas- where group Chair Chris Dinwoodie will be meeting with attendees, exhibitors, speakers and local business associations.
